Head of Technical - Solar PV (In Office - CPT) - Datafin IT Recruitment

ENVIRONMENT:

Our client is a fast-growing specialist in Solar PV Operations & Maintenance (O&M), focused on maximising the performance, reliability, and value of commercial and industrial (C&I) solar assets. They are seeking a Head of Technical to lead the company's technical function, drive portfolio performance, and provide technical leadership while working closely with operations, field teams, and clients.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone with strong Solar PV expertise who enjoys solving technical challenges, optimising asset performance, and mentoring teams.

DUTIES:

• Lead the technical strategy and performance of the Solar PV portfolio.
• Monitor and optimise system performance, availability, and energy yield.
• Analyse monitoring data to identify faults, perform root cause analysis, and recommend improvements.
• Support preventative and corrective maintenance planning alongside Operations & Maintenance teams.
• Oversee technical optimisation and upgrade projects.
• Build and maintain performance dashboards and technical reports.
• Act as the primary technical contact for clients, providing clear recommendations and performance insights.
• Mentor and develop the technical and O&M teams while promoting engineering best practices.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
• 5 -8+ years' experience within the Solar PV industry.
• Strong experience in Solar PV Operations & Maintenance and asset performance optimisation.
• Experience using monitoring platforms such as VCOM, SCADA, or similar Solar PV monitoring systems.
• Solid understanding of performance metrics such as PR, availability, energy yield, and system losses.
• Proven ability to lead technical teams and manage multiple projects.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and client-facing communication skills.
• Own transport and valid license

Advantageous

• Experience with C&I Solar PV portfolios.
• Knowledge of Power BI, advanced Excel, or other reporting and analytics tools.
• Experience mentoring engineers and developing technical processes.
