Job Description:
Our client is seeking an experienced Storeman to support stores, inventory and manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely receiving, inspecting, storing, picking, packing, issuing and dispatching materials and finished goods, while maintaining accurate stock traceability, FIFO controls, Kanban replenishment and a clean and organised stores environment.
Responsibilities:
- Receive and inspect incoming deliveries against purchase orders, delivery notes, quantities, condition and required documentation.
- Identify, segregate and report shortages, damages, discrepancies and non-conforming goods.
- Store materials safely in designated locations while maintaining accurate bin locations, labelling and stock traceability.
- Pick, pack and issue materials accurately against authorised production, sales and picking documentation.
- Prepare and issue production kits and materials, ensuring correct item codes, quantities, batch/serial numbers and project allocation.
- Maintain FIFO/FEFO stock rotation and identify obsolete, expired, slow-moving or damaged stock.
- Monitor and replenish Kanban consumables and report shortages, abnormal usage or critical stock requirements.
- Assist with cycle counts, stock takes, recounts and stock-location verification to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Pack and prepare finished goods, spares and sales orders for dispatch, ensuring accurate quantities and supporting documentation.
- Maintain accurate dispatch and handover records and assist with loading goods for authorised carriers or customers.
- Perform authorised local collections and deliveries and conduct required pre-use checks on vehicles and material-handling equipment.
- Maintain safe, clean and organised stores areas while supporting urgent production requirements and escalating stock, safety or dispatch issues.
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
- Grade 12 or equivalent is preferred.
- Relevant stores or warehousing training would be advantageous.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience within stores, warehousing, dispatch or manufacturing materials is preferred.
- Ability to read and accurately work with item codes, picking documents, purchase orders and delivery notes.
- Ability to maintain accurate manual and/or electronic stores and inventory records.
- Valid South African driver’s licence suitable for required collections and deliveries.
- Forklift licence would be advantageous, or willingness and ability to obtain the required training and authorisation.
- Physically capable of safely performing routine material-handling duties.
- Good attention to detail with strong checking, counting and organisational skills.
- Reliable and safety-conscious with the ability to work effectively as part of an operational team.
