Some accountants process the numbers. Others want to know that the numbers are right, understand what sits behind them, spot when something doesn’t make sense and take ownership of fixing it.

We’re looking for the second kind.

This Financial Accountant opportunity will suit someone who gets genuine satisfaction from a clean reconciliation, an accurate set of management accounts and a finance function that runs the way it should.

You’ll have your hands across the accounting function — from journals, reconciliations and reporting to tax, VAT, budgets and the annual audit. It’s a role for someone who likes responsibility, enjoys solving discrepancies and doesn’t need to be chased to get things over the line.

You’ll make your mark by:

• Keeping the financial information accurate, complete and reliable
• Preparing monthly management accounts, reports, budgets, commentaries and financial statements
• Getting into the detail of daily and monthly reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
• Taking ownership of tax and VAT calculations, returns and compliance requirements
• Maintaining strong financial controls and accurate accounting records
• Preparing and verifying payments and supporting documentation
• Coordinating the annual financial audit
• Keeping a close eye on income and expenditure
• Working confidently with management, colleagues, clients and other stakeholders
• Helping coordinate the activities of accounting clerical staff

This could be you if...

You’re meticulous without losing sight of deadlines. You question things when they don’t look right. You communicate well, solve problems rather than pass them on, and integrity in your work is non-negotiable.

You’ll need a BCom or equivalent degree, strong accounting and processing skills, and confidence working in Excel and MS Office. Pastel Evolution experience would be an advantage.
