Job Description:
Our client is seeking an Owner’s Representative – Permitting Lead to oversee the project’s permitting and Environmental & Social (E&S) approvals through to feasibility. The role will coordinate permitting and E&S consultants, manage key regulatory workstreams, and ensure all approvals are delivered on schedule. The position will also act as the main interface with consultants, investors, lenders and regulators, ensuring E&S and permitting requirements are aligned with the project’s development capability, proven project management experience, and the ability to work on rotation at remote international sites.
Responsibilities:
- Take overall ownership of the project’s permitting strategy, approvals and integrated permitting schedule.
- Manage key regulatory processes, including ECC amendments, water licences, servitudes, powerline and grid approvals, and Mining Licence amendments where required.
- Maintain the permitting tracker and critical path, ensuring dependencies are managed and workstreams remain on schedule.
- Review permit applications and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness and alignment with the current project scope.
- Oversee ESIA and ESMP updates and ensure E&S deliverables meet regulatory, investor and lender requirements.
- Coordinate stakeholder engagement, public consultation, land access, servitude and landowner requirements.
- Represent the project with relevant country regulatory authorities and maintain effective relationships to facilitate approvals and resolve queries.
- Manage permitting and E&S consultants, ensuring agreed scopes, deliverables, quality and timelines are achieved.
- Coordinate between permitting, E&S and technical teams to ensure environmental and social requirements are incorporated into the evolving project design.
- Identify permitting and E&S risks, recommend mitigation measures and escalate issues where required.
- Provide regular reporting on permitting progress, approval timelines, risks and mitigation measures, while supporting budget management.
