SACPCMP Safety Officer - The Recruiter

Education Requirements: Matriculation / Grade 12 Certificate BSc/BA in Safety Management, Engineering, or relevant field is preferred. Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety SACPCMP Registration Work Experience Requirements: Proven experience as Health & Safety Officer. In-depth knowledge of legislation (e.g., OSHACT/EPA) and procedures. Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices. Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety. Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics. Proficient in MS Office. Working knowledge of safety management information systems. Outstanding organizational skills. Diligent, with great attention to detail. Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics.

Prepare a construction health and safety plan. Site set-up – incl. signage, HSE Committee, etc. Ensure mandatory agreements and appointments are in place. Confirm necessary documentation was submitted to the relevant authorities. Ensure Risk assessment documentation is aligned with construction/site activities. Ensure that all site personnel have valid medicals. Confirm that all operators have the required certificates for the machinery. Attend project planning meetings. Conduct assessments and approval of health and safety plans. Compile project-specific emergency response and preparedness plans. Attend the site handover. Facilitate site health and safety meetings. Establish and maintain health and safety communication structures and systems and distribution of health and safety-specific documents to sub-contractors. Conduct daily Plant, tools, and site equipment inspections. Attend regular site, technical and progress meetings. Identify hazards and risks on the project through regular coordinated site inspections. Ensure required temporary works documentation is in place. Conduct site safety inductions and ensure that all task/inspection/inductions, etc. registers are up to date. Evaluate the levels of compliance of subcontractors to the project. Oversee the reporting and investigation of project-related incidents. Oversee the maintenance of all HSE records. Test the effectiveness of the emergency response plans. Participate in management reviews of the health and safety systems. Use trend analysis to identify system deficiencies. Incorporate any changes in the health and safety management system. Review and update the health and safety plan. Develop technical reports in relation to HSE issues and communicate to relevant decision-makers. Ensure that close-out CA Reports turnaround time is within 2 days
