An established and reputable company within the food manufacturing and flavouring industry is seeking a Quality Control Lab Technician to join their team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-orientated individual with a strong understanding of laboratory practices and quality control within a food manufacturing environment.
Main Purpose of the Job:
Measuring and controlling quality and food safety parameters of food products produced in the plant, support production and ensuring quality and food safety controls / requirements are adhered to.
Qualifications
Degree/Diploma in Chemistry or related field preferred.
Knowledge and Experience
- No Prior professional experience in a QC lab is required, but an understanding of basic laboratory techniques and safety procedure is essential.
- Food quality control, food processing control, food production.
- Food Safety Systems.
Requirements
- 0-2 years’ working experience in a lab environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Routine Testing: perform a variety of physical and chemical tests on raw materials, in-process, and finished products using standard operating procedures (SOPs), this may include pH testing, viscosity measurements, and ingredient analysis.
- Data Entry and Documentation: Meticulously record all test results and observations in lab test sheets and our digital database. Storage and control of retention samples.
- Equipment maintenance: Perform basic calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment to ensure accurate results.
- Problem Identification: Report any out-of-specification results or potential quality issues to the supervisor immediately. Troubleshooting of Production / Process Non-conformances, Reworks, and complaints.
- Miscellaneous: consumables & chemicals management, ensure adherence to GLP & Good housekeeping etc.

Salary: R 12 000 – R 15 000 CTC
