Chemical Engineer/Technical Sales Rep - Household & Personal Care (HHPC) (Luanda, Angola) - Datafin IT Recruitment

ENVIRONMENT:

A leading Distributor with a footprint on the African continent seeks the technical expertise of a Chemical Engineer with a strong background in Household and Personal Care (HHPC) products, specifically detergents and cosmetics to join its team in Luanda, Angola. The successful candidate will combine technical expertise with commercial acumen to support customers, drive sales growth, and develop long-term business relationships within the Home Care and Personal Care industries. The ideal candidate will require a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering with 3 years' experience within: Detergent chemicals industry; Cosmetic chemicals industry or Similar specialty chemical sectors.

DUTIES:

KPAs –

• Drive sales growth within the HHPC sector.
• Provide technical advice on raw materials and formulations.
• Support customers with product applications and performance optimization.
• Build and manage customer relationships.
• Identify new business opportunities and expand market share.
• Act as the primary technical and commercial contact for customers.

Business Development & Sales -

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the Household & Personal Care market.
• Develop sales strategies to achieve revenue and market-share targets.
• Conduct market research and monitor industry trends, competitor products, and customer needs.
• Manage and grow existing customer accounts.

Technical Support -

• Advise customers on:
• Raw material selection
• Formulation development
• Product performance
• Product applications
  • Deliver technical presentations and innovation support.
  • Troubleshoot product-related issues and customer complaints.
  • Conduct customer site visits to assess manufacturing processes and technical requirements.
  • Provide training and technical documentation, including data sheets and product guides.

Customer Relationship Management -

• Serve as the main point of contact with customers.
• Build strong, long-term customer partnerships.
• Gather customer feedback and recommend improvements to products and services.
• Maintain accurate records within CRM systems.
• Prepare sales reports and management analysis.

REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications –

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering.

Experience/Skills -

• Minimum 3 years' experience within: Detergent chemicals industry; Cosmetic chemicals industry or Similar specialty chemical sectors.
• Professional-level English.
• Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint (preferred to have).
