Our client is seeking a skilled Crane Fitter to join their Maintenance Department. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and repairing lifting equipment, ensuring optimal plant operation, and minimizing downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Repair & Maintenance: Oversee the repair and maintenance of all lifting equipment, including electrical hoists, wire hoists, and chain hoists.
  • Inspection & Testing: Conduct inspections and assist the Lifting Machine Inspector with load testing and equipment inspections.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine preventative maintenance on hoists, overhead cranes, and other mechanical/electrical equipment.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of service and inspection activities, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and filed appropriately.
  • Breakdown Maintenance: Address mechanical breakdowns and conduct troubleshooting, diagnosing issues, and performing necessary repairs.
  • Installation Support: Assist with the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety standards, environmental regulations, and OHSA requirements, ensuring compliance in all tasks.
  • Maintenance Scheduling: Use the planned maintenance system to execute maintenance schedules, including shutdown and inline maintenance.
  • Contractor Oversight: Supervise contractors on site as required, ensuring that work is performed to company and industry standards.
  • Cross-Departmental Support: Provide maintenance support and assistance to other departments as needed.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Qualified Fitter or Millwright with a recognized trade test.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years post-apprenticeship experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Certifications: Preference will be given to candidates with LMI (Lifting Machine Inspector) or LTI (Lifting Tackle Inspector) registration.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work at heights without medical restrictions.
  • Transport: Must have own reliable transport.
  • Work Schedule: Ability to work overtime, shifts, and be available for standby or emergency work at short notice.
