New Vacancy is available for a Project Engineer for our client in the Automotive Industry, based in Kariega. 
The Project Engineer is responsible for managing imported production materials and enhancing manufacturing systems and processes to support new model launches and updates.

The role includes implementing process changes due to Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and providing technical support to production to ensure quality targets and volume schedules are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Production Materials Management:
    • Analyze, reconcile, and administer the value of imported materials.
  2. Process Improvement and Implementation:
    • Develop and implement new manufacturing systems and processes for new models and updates.
    • Continuously evaluate existing processes for improvements.
    • Handle process changes based on ECRs.
  3. Technical Support:
    • Resolve production issues to meet quality standards and production targets.
  4. Product and Facility Specification:
    • Create detailed product specifications and facility layouts using Micro Station (HLS), Catia V5, and Tecnomatix tools.
  5. Project and Investment Management:
    • Compile investment plans and manage fund approvals for procurement of equipment and services.
    • Supervise try-outs, commissioning, and ensure facilities meet quality standards.
  6. Production Trials and Readiness:
    • Conduct trials (VFF, PVS, O-Series), implement corrective actions, and ensure production readiness.
    • Organize training for Production and Maintenance teams on new equipment and processes.
  7. Design Reviews and Project Timing:
    • Coordinate design reviews, ensuring feedback from all stakeholders is incorporated.
    • Manage project timelines using MS Project and other project management tools.
This position requires strong analytical, technical, and project management skills to drive process improvements and support production efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • National Diploma in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of relevant Project Planning experience, preferably in the Automotive Industry (Assembly environment).

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

  1. Technical Expertise:
    • In-depth understanding of production processes, facility layouts, and equipment.
    • Knowledge of jigs, fixtures, gauges, press tools, and vehicle build processes.
    • Strong insight into Engineering, planning, manufacturing systems, and costing practices.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of Vehicle Assembly and Complete Vehicle build processes.
  2. Software Proficiency:
    • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project).
  3. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
    • Strong analytical skills with a creative and innovative approach.
    • Assertive with effective facilitation and negotiation skills.
  4. Communication and Flexibility:
    • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels.
    • Highly motivated, adaptable, and capable of performing well under stress.
    • Working knowledge of Technical German Language.
  5. Travel Requirement:
    • Must be willing to travel internationally on short notice.
