ENVIRONMENT:
MANAGE the Logistics Department including all deliveries, dispatching and personnel as the next Logistics Manager sought by a dynamic Manufacturer in specialised polyethylene supplies. You will also plan, organise and document the delivery schedules for the outgoing deliveries, obtain updated quotes from third party transport companies while assisting with and overseeing the weekly and monthly stocktake of all raw material, finished goods, works in progress and redundant stock. You must possess a relevant qualification in Logistics or Supply Chain Management with at least 5+ years proven experience in a similar role including solid knowledge of Warehouse Management, Inventory Control practices & Supply Chain Management principles. You will also need proficiency in Route Planning, Fleet Management, Vehicle Maintenance and knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards.
 
DUTIES:
  • Manage the Logistics Department including all deliveries, all dispatching and all personnel within the Logistics Department.
  • Cleaning of all equipment.
  • Plan, organise and document the delivery schedules for the outgoing deliveries in the most economical and efficient way possible.
  • Plan and oversee the delivery routes as per the delivery schedules created.
  • Arrange for the picking, packing and preparation of stock for delivery as per the delivery schedules. Ensure these tasks are performed accurately and timeously.
  • Obtain updated quotes from third party transport companies on a monthly basis, or however frequently as required.
  • Operate multiple vehicles including but not limited to; forklifts, stackers, passenger vehicles and single and/or double axel commercial delivery vehicles.
  • Oversee and manage all Logistics related personnel including, but not limited to, delivery drivers, delivery assistants, forklift operators and storemen.
  • Ensure that all staff within the Logistics Department adhere to company policies at all times, including but not limited to; timekeeping, cleaning, hygiene, safety, uniforms, smoking on the premises, tool usage and recordkeeping.
  • Oversee and monitor the fuel usage, mileage and service history of all company vehicles to ensure proper servicing of such vehicles at the appropriate times and dates.
  • Responsible for the safekeeping of the company petrol card.
  • Oversee the receipt of customers returns and conduct fault-finding inspection.
  • Assist with and oversee the weekly and monthly stocktake of all raw material, finished goods, works in progress and redundant stock.
  • Responsible for the accurate recording of waste movements, including the arranging of waste dispatching and receiving and stocktake as and when required.
 
REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications –
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
 
Experience/Skills –
  • Proven experience as a Logistics Manager or in a similar role, typically 5+ years.
  • Familiarity with Warehouse Management and Inventory Control practices.
  • Strong understanding of Logistics and Supply Chain Management principles.
  • Proficiency in Route Planning, Fleet Management, and Vehicle Maintenance.  
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards.
