Our client is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Junior Costing Engineer/Estimator to join their innovative team! If you're passionate about precision, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and want to make an impact in a cutting-edge industry, this is the role for you.

As part of our client's growing operation, you'll interpret GA drawings and technical specifications, prepare detailed project costings, source top-tier suppliers, and manage project costs, all while working alongside a dynamic and collaborative team.

What You’ll Do:

Sourcing Excellence:

  • Identify and evaluate the best suppliers for materials, components, and equipment, ensuring everything aligns with our client's cutting-edge technical designs and specifications.
  • Negotiate competitive pricing without compromising on quality to ensure that every project remains on budget.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, new technologies, and suppliers to ensure our client is always sourcing the best solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions.

Costing Analysis That Powers Success:

  • Prepare accurate, detailed project costings that help the sales team establish competitive pricing.
  • Develop comprehensive technical specifications to accompany sales proposals and contracts, ensuring clarity and precision.
  • Track market conditions, including pricing trends and currency fluctuations, and proactively adjust strategies to optimize cost efficiency.

Collaborating for Seamless Execution:

  • Work closely with designers, production, and sales teams to ensure sourcing aligns with the client’s technical requirements and production schedules.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to create detailed, costed bills of materials for procurement, ensuring smooth and accurate handoffs.
  • Collaborate with the purchasing team to ensure supplier lead times match the vessel production timelines.
  • Support the project team by monitoring costs, managing budgets, and ensuring accurate recording and costing of variation orders.

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Maintain clear and accurate records of supplier contacts, pricing agreements, and procurement activities to ensure transparency and smooth operations.
  • Ensure supplier contracts reflect all negotiated terms and meet industry standards.
  • Adhere to our client's internal policies and industry regulations to keep operations efficient and compliant.
  • Organize all documentation to ensure easy audits and reviews, aligned with ISO and other industry standards.

Driving Continuous Improvement:

  • Recommend improvements to sourcing and pricing strategies, enhancing efficiency and contributing to cost savings across projects.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends.
  • Contribute to cost-saving initiatives that optimize the sourcing and procurement processes, ensuring our client delivers projects on time and within budget.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, Engineering, Cost Estimating, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience in technical sourcing, costing, or procurement, ideally in the manufacturing or marine sectors.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills for effective engagement with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and sourcing software/tools.
  • Knowledge of boat construction processes is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Pastel Accounting software is a plus but not essential.
