Assistant Accountant

 

My client in the Transport Industry is looking for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join their team in Paarl.

Areas of Responsibility (Your duties will include but are not limited to)

• Completion and checking of the General Ledger and Trial Balance every month
• Ensure objectives in terms of efficient cashbook payment services are achieved and cashbook functions adhered to
• Ensure queries are resolved timeously and efficiently
• Ensure that financial data is efficiently captured
• Deal with customer complaints
• Tend to monthly Debtors age analysis
• Preparation of monthly management accounts (to prepare VAT returns), final trial balances, financial statements and tax computations to meet SARS and other deadlines
• VAT recons and returns
• Monthly balance sheet recons
• Administration duties including filing, typing of letters etc
• Creditors and debtors as well as recons of creditors and debtors
• Handling of claims

Knowledge, skills and attributes

Knowledge and skills:

• Professional financial background/Accounting firm experience preferable
• Financial statement preparation
• Computer literate in Microsoft Office and Pastel and strong administrative and reconciliation skills
• Grade 12
