Our client is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Business Representative to provide support in Sales, Administration, Stock Control, and Customer Service. This role is key to achieving departmental targets while ensuring high standards of service and maintaining strong customer relationships.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Sales and Business Administration:
  • Canvass and open new customer accounts, ensuring they are viable for future business.
  • Monitor monthly sales per customer using the Sales Management process.
  • Extract sales data from SAP daily to assess actual units versus target units, and take corrective actions when necessary.
  • Provide monthly updates to the Regional Manager on all activities related to the customer base.
  • Suggest and implement marketing and promotional ideas, aligning customer strategies with company objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Warehouse team and Value Logistics for route planning and customer support.
  • Organize and host trade events and entertainment to promote products and strengthen customer relationships.
  • Initiate and monitor promotional activities to expand the existing customer base and market share.
  • Assist with the credit application process and collaborate with the debtor’s team to ensure timely collection of outstanding payments.
  • Ensure that all outstanding debtors are collected within 45 days.
  • Address customer queries in collaboration with the debtor’s team and ensure a proactive approach to risk management.
  • Maintain company assets, including vehicles and equipment, in line with company policies and procedures.
Stock Control:
  • Work closely with the Warehouse team to ensure optimal stock availability and resolve any stock-related queries.
  • Assist with the consignment stock process when required.
  • Track customer buying patterns to forecast monthly stock needs.
  • Ensure stock rotations are handled properly and timely replenishments are made.
  • Help customers manage their stock levels and mix to meet their needs.
Compliance:
  • Operate in compliance with internal controls and procedures to ensure operational integrity.
  • Report any risks or concerns to the management team within your operational area.
  • Promote adherence to all relevant regulations and procedures, ensuring waste reduction and prevention of irregular expenditure.
Customer Service:
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers to provide high-quality service.
  • Resolve issues efficiently, demonstrating integrity and upholding the company’s core values.
  • Participate in daily and weekly discussions with the CIC and other relevant stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of customer queries.
  • Provide regular presentations and training to customers on product updates, pricing, and technical changes.
  • Keep customer databases up to date by adding new information or updating existing details as needed.
  • Support the customer liaison department in maintaining the customer base by ensuring accurate information.
Cost Control:
  • Support the efficient use of financial and other resources.
  • Ensure correct pricing structures are in place at all times.
  • Monitor gross profit on a daily basis and implement necessary actions if needed.
  • Reduce operational costs by optimizing company resources (e.g., cell phones, vehicles) and minimizing unnecessary expenses.
  • Report any budget deviations to the Regional Manager and work to minimize waste and excessive expenditure.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum: Diploma / Certificate or equivalent (NQF 5)
Experience:
  • Minimum: Up to 3 years as a Business Representative or in a similar role within the Manufacturing environment
Skills and Competencies:
  • Basic computer literacy (MS Office, SAP, ERP systems, and job-specific software)
  • Proactive, action-oriented with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
  • Customer-focused with exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Resilient with the ability to manage challenges effectively and build long-term relationships
