Key Responsibilities:
- Operate excavators and other heavy machinery to load and unload scrap metal and materials.
- Ensure efficient material processing, including sorting, stacking, and moving metal materials for further processing or shipment.
- Perform daily inspections of equipment to ensure functionality and safety.
- Maintain safety protocols and follow all site-specific safety regulations.
- Work with team members to ensure smooth operations within the recycling yard.
- Monitor the quality of materials and ensure they are correctly handled and sorted.
- Assist with general maintenance tasks when required.
- Troubleshoot and report any equipment issues promptly.
- Proven experience operating an excavator or similar heavy machinery.
- Experience in the metal recycling or construction industry is preferred.
- Strong understanding of safety standards and procedures for heavy equipment operation.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Physical fitness and ability to handle manual labor as required.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Valid operator certification is preferred (depending on location).
