Our client is a well-established leader in the scrap metal recycling industry, dedicated to providing sustainable recycling solutions while maintaining the highest standards of customer service. They are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Scrap Metal Buyer to join their team. Key Responsibilities:
  • Source and purchase scrap metals from various suppliers, ensuring competitive prices while building and maintaining strong vendor relationships.
  • Assess and identify different types of metals (copper, aluminum, steel, etc.) to determine their value.
  • Ensure safe handling and transportation of materials in accordance with industry regulations.
  • Negotiate purchase agreements with clients and ensure compliance with relevant standards and laws.
  • Maintain accurate records of transactions and inventory using MS Office tools.
  • Collaborate closely with the logistics team to coordinate timely pickup and delivery of scrap materials.
  • Stay informed of market trends and pricing for metals to optimize profitability.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in scrap metal purchasing or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of various metals (e.g., copper, aluminum, steel, etc.).
  • Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong focus on Excel for reporting and tracking purposes.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build long-term relationships with suppliers and clients.
  • A keen eye for detail and the ability to assess metal quality accurately.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
