Our client is seeking a Warehouse and Distribution Manager to join their team in Cape Town. This role is responsible for ensuring operational efficiencies and optimization in the warehouse and distribution environment, while maintaining alignment with business operations. The ideal candidate will drive effective warehouse management, inventory control, compliance, and customer service to contribute to the company’s overall success.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Warehouse and Distribution Management:
    • Contribute to the development and recommendation of strategic plans to achieve operational goals.
    • Ensure efficient warehouse operations that meet both operational and customer demands.
    • Oversee the receipt, packing, storage, and dispatch of goods, ensuring accurate documentation.
    • Manage inventory levels and perform regular physical counts, reconciling with the automated system.
    • Optimize warehouse space layout to meet current and future capacity requirements.
    • Ensure proper storage of hazardous materials in compliance with regulations.
    • Establish and maintain high-security standards within the warehouse.
    • Collaborate with partners for daily planning and deliveries.
  2. Stock Management and Control:
    • Oversee the process of stock receipts, ensuring accurate entry into the system.
    • Investigate any stock variances and implement rectification plans.
  3. Compliance:
    • Adhere to internal controls and procedures, ensuring integrity and compliance with regulations.
    • Assist in identifying and monitoring risks within the warehouse and distribution areas.
    • Maintain a safe working environment by following Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, ISO standards, and regulations.
  4. Customer Service Management:
    • Foster positive relationships with internal and external customers to ensure the highest quality of service.
    • Represent the company in meetings with relevant stakeholders.
    • Demonstrate problem-solving skills and integrity in line with company values.
    • Provide reports to management on stakeholder-related matters.
  5. Staff Supervision:
    • Ensure all employees have signed performance agreements.
    • Monitor employee performance through regular appraisals and collaborate with HR on performance development plans.
    • Provide ongoing training and address employee relations matters as they arise.
  6. Cost and Financial Control:
    • Contribute to budget preparation and promote the efficient use of financial resources.
    • Monitor and control expenditures to stay within budget and financial guidelines.
    • Identify opportunities to reduce costs and optimize resource usage.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum: Diploma in Warehouse Management, Distribution, or Logistics (NQF 6).
  • Advantageous: Bachelor’s Degree in Warehouse Management, Distribution, or Logistics (NQF 7).

Experience:

  • Minimum: 5 years in warehouse or distribution/logistics in a manufacturing environment, with up to 3 years in a supervisory role.

Technical Competencies:

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and relevant discipline-specific software.
  • Strong understanding of warehousing and distribution processes.
