Responsibilities:
- Assisting in overseeing daily workshop activities.
- Planning and management of maintenance team for the section.
- Providing technical advice to Technicians to improve efficiency and enhance services provided to the customer.
- Cost control and assisting with budgeting.
- Assisting with inspections and troubleshooting on equipment.
- Ensuring unused parts are returned to stores.
- Familiar with OEM procedures in testing and adjusting new, remanufactured, and refurbished components.
- Ensuring service reports are submitted by Technicians.
- Ensuring Technicians receiving training on any new systems, tools and all safety procedures and standards.
- Development and implementation of repairs procedures and processes.
- Organisation and management of equipment and tools.
- Planning and scheduling of calibrations, maintenance and repairs on all equipment.
- Implementing quality control measures to ensure work is carried out to provide customer satisfaction and defects are minimized.
- Advise and train workshop and field team on safety procedures and standards, and ensure adherence to these.
- Amending standard operating procedures according to any new risk identified.
- Immediate reporting of any hazard, accident, injury or potential accident.
- Performance evaluation and recommending any required training.
- Ensure accurate reporting and record keeping.
- Management and resolution of customer complaints.
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
- Suitable technical trade certificate or mechanical engineering degree.
- 10 years previous experience in engineering maintenance of earthmoving equipment within the mining sector, with at least 3 years in a Supervisory capacity.
- Experienced in a range of large brand shovels utilized in the mining sector.
- Well-versed in management software such as Irium, Odoo or SAP.
- Experienced in the use of OEM diagnostic tools and connected platforms.
- Familiar with OEM warranty policies and the application thereof.
- Strong leadership, team management and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physically fit to perform electrical, mechanical or electromechanical tasks.
- Experience mentoring and training subordinates of diverse cultural backgrounds.
