Responsibilities:

    • Oversee the refurbishment, commissioning, and maintenance of uranium processing plant, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
    • Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance strategies to maximize plant uptime and efficiency.
    • Lead and manage mechanical engineering projects, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.
    • Monitor and troubleshoot fixed plant equipment, including crushers, mills, pumps, conveyors, heat exchangers, and filtration systems.
    • Ensure adherence to best practices in process engineering, metallurgical plant performance, and mechanical maintenance.
    • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical, instrumentation, and process engineers, to enhance plant efficiency.
    • Provide leadership and mentorship to site-based maintenance teams, ensuring skill development and knowledge transfer.
    • Maintain strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.
    • Oversee spare parts inventory and procurement planning to support continuous operations.
    • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant productivity and reduce downtime.

 

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

    • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
    • 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering within mining processing plants, with a strong focus on uranium or heavy mineral processing.
    • Expertise in plant refurbishment, commissioning, and maintenance within remote mining operations.
    • Strong background in fixed plant equipment, including crushers, mills, screens, thickeners, agitators, and tailings systems.
    • Experience working with highly corrosive environments, particularly those associated with uranium processing.
    • Familiarity with ISO standards, asset management principles, and CMMS software (Syspro, SAP, Pronto, etc).
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
    • Ability to work in a high-pressure, remote environment with limited resources.
    • Willingness to work on a rotation/roster in Southeast Africa.
