Assistant Financial Controller (Consolidations)

My client seeks a young, newly qualified CA(SA) to fill the role of an Assistant Financial Controller with specialization within Consolidations to join their team. You will ensure the accuracy and compliance of consolidated financial statements while collaborating with senior management across multiple business units. You will be a detail-driven, proactive individual with strong consolidation and reporting experience, and will be comfortable with complex data, identifying trends, and offer actionable insight. Strong communication, problem-solving, and team collaboration skills are essential.

 

Responsibilities:

• Lead the consolidation process for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
• Prepare consolidation adjustments
• Prepare consolidated financial statements
• Assist the Financial Controller with the review of subsidiary financial statements at year end
• Assist in the preparation of management reports
• Analyse and explain variances between actual, budgeted, and prior period results
• Maintain group-level financial dashboards
• Provide recommendations based on financial performance insights to senior management.
• Prepare and support audit activities for consolidated financial statements
• Design and implement group wide monthly and annual reporting templates 
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new acquisitions or business units
• Support the Financial Controller and senior management in ad-hoc analysis and reporting requirements

Requirements:

• CA(SA) qualification
• Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in an consolidation roles
• Experience working with financial consolidation tools and software
• Strong proficiency in MS Office and MS Excel and other data analysis tools
• Strong understanding of consolidation principles, accounting standards (IFRS, GAAP), and intercompany transactions
• Experience in the management of cross-border or multi-currency consolidations
• Proficiency in preparing and analysing consolidated financial statements, including balance sheets, P&L, and cash flow statements
