Our client in the automotive industry is seeking a competent and motivated individual for the Manufacturing Supervisor position they have available based in Port Elizabeth.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the maintenance department.
  • Ensure the availability and reliability of equipment to meet production requirements.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance Superintendent of Wheel Finishing and the Maintenance Planner to ensure all site services are operational.
  • Maintain an up-to-date critical spares list for the wheel-making area.
  • Identify, adapt, and resolve any maintenance constraints that may arise.
  • Control and manage the maintenance budget for the wheel-making area.
  • Work closely with the production department to identify, analyze, and resolve equipment-related issues.
  • Support initiatives to reduce the plant's energy footprint and implement energy-saving measures.
  • Provide 24-hour assistance to the maintenance team when required.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory and industry standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

✔ Red Seal qualified artisan – Mechanical or Electrical trade (Essential)
✔ National Diploma in a relevant field (Essential)
✔ Supervisory qualification (Advantageous)

EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE

  • 10+ years of experience in the Automotive/Manufacturing industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of machinery used in wheel manufacturing.
  • Experience with energy-saving technologies and initiatives.
  • Strong problem-solving skills using methodologies like 5 Why, Fishbone, or SWOT Analysis.
  • Expertise in electrical systems, compressed air equipment, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Thorough understanding of OHS Act, ISO 50001, and IATF 16949 regulations.
  • Proficient in computer systems (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, CMMS, Asset Management Systems).

✔ Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
✔ Ability to read and interpret diagrams, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
✔ Proven leadership and project management capabilities.
✔ Excellent attendance and disciplinary record.
