We are seeking an Accountant with Management experience for our client in Port Elizabeth/Gqeberha.
 
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Accounting Team Leader to oversee our accounting team and ensure the accuracy and efficiency of our financial operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Accounting and Processing:
    • Oversee daily accounting operations, including processing transactions and maintaining accurate financial records.
    • Ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
  2. Financial Statements:
    • Draft and review financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  3. Reconciliation:
    • Reconcile subledgers to the general ledger and resolve any discrepancies.
    • Maintain and reconcile fixed assets registers and inventory reports.
    • Manage and reconcile intercompany loans.
  4. Tax Administration:
    • Handle tax administration for clients, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.
  5. Year-End and Month-End Close:
    • Monitor timelines for month-end close activities and ensure timely completion.
    • Oversee onboarding activities for new clients and staff.
  6. Working Papers:
    • Review working papers for accuracy and completeness.
  7. Training and Development:
    • Facilitate software and process training for internal staff and external clients.
    • Develop and update training materials to ensure client standards are met and maintained.
    • Train and develop team to ensure optimisation of output and adherence to laws and regulations
  8. Provide accounting and tax software training and support
    • Full understanding of IT software used by the department
    • Training and support to the team of the software used by the department
    • Continuous investigation into best technology for our environment and to ensure optimum productivity of the department
  9. External Engagement:
    • Engage with clients and team to align and meet delivery expectations.
    • Client engagement – presenting reports, structure planning, estate planning, compilations, integrated reports and general client meetings
    • Networking within the industry to leverage opportunities
  10. Project Management:
    • Lead and manage accounting projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
    • Perform team leader duties, including performance management, recruiting, and team capacity planning.
  11. Standard Operating Procedures:
    • Develop and implement standard operating procedures for the division.
  12. Team Management:
    • Manage the accounting team, setting performance targets and conducting performance reviews.
    • Time management
    • Foster a positive and productive team environment.

Qualifications:
  • Honours degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in accounting and team leadership roles.
  • Proficiency in accounting and tax software.
  • Excellent team leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
