Our client, a prominent company in the automotive industry, is seeking an experienced Head of Security to lead their Security Division based in Kariega.
 
The Head of Security role will be based in Kariega. This is a corporate role and the individual will have to have experience from industries such as automotive, manufacturing or mining, where there are physical assets that needs to be protected. 


Duties:

  • Develop and implement the security vision and mission statements for the Group's Sub-Sahara Region.
  • Lead security and fire risk management activities.
  • Manage the development and enforcement of Group Policy 13: Security minimum standards, guidelines, and procedures to ensure alignment with Group Security.
  • Develop strategies to mitigate risks, maintain operational continuity, and protect the company, its employees, and assets, ensuring security procedures are updated and effective.
  • Create security concepts based on risk assessments for Sub-Saharan African markets.
  • Represent Group Security in the Whistleblower Committee and assist with investigations in line with Group Policy 03: Whistleblower.
  • Develop and implement Crisis Management Organizational Structure and global database information, covering 100% shareholding in Sub-Saharan countries.
  • Monitor and update the digitized travel security concept to ensure efficiency.
  • Plan manpower and capital (equipment) needs, and produce an overhead budget.
  • Approve the security manpower contract and advise on the security budget for operations in Gauteng and Cape Town.
  • Provide security advice to all divisions and ensure awareness to minimize risk to employees and contractors.
  • Advise and negotiate with key stakeholders on implementing strategic security measures for Group operations in Africa.
  • Manage the security strategy for the Service Level Agreement between the Group.
  • Foster collaboration with heads of security at other Group brands.
  • Verify and approve security and fire protection cost invoices for the Group.
  • Develop and update plans for the security of Executive Board Members and their families.
  • Collaborate with executives to prioritize security initiatives and budgets based on risk management and financial considerations.
  • Contribute to the Crisis Management Organisation in the event of a security disaster or emergency.
  • Work with external consultants for independent security audits.
  • Provide weekly feedback reports to Group Security.
  • Approve security and fire protection fittings and devices for new projects.
  • Participate in planning meetings for projects with a security and fire protection focus.
  • Assess security requirements for CAPEX and submit accordingly.
  • Approve and evaluate transport (taxi) invoices, amend transport requirements, and negotiate with the union.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with law enforcement, security organizations, and private sector counterparts to stay informed on the security environment.
  • Approve procedures for stolen company vehicle recoveries and identification on a national scale.
  • Identify protection goals, objectives, and metrics in line with the corporate strategic plan.
  • Oversee incident response planning, investigate security breaches, and assist with related disciplinary and legal matters.
Essential:
  • Tertiary (Degree/Diploma) qualification in Security Risk Management, with focus on Business Management
  • 10 years minimum experience in the Security industry of which 5 years should be in a management role.
  • Comprehensive security experience in various security areas e.g. crisis management, investigations, operational security, international security exposure, etc.
  • Experience with security auditing, security risk management, as well as contract and vendor negotiation.
  • Capable of Managing, Advising, Guiding and Leading a security team

  • Decision making and good judgment skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Language – English. Basic Business German Speak and Read will be an advantage.
  • Able to communicate security-related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff.
  • Ability to operate effectively at all levels of the organization
