Job overview
My client, a leading manufacturer of catering and baking equipment, is looking for a Driver to join their team in Bellville South, Cape Town.
Key responsibilities
- Follow instructions; locate and read location and road maps.
- Pick up products, verify loads for accuracy and deliver them as instructed.
- Load and unload equipment and spares.
- Assist with loading and off loading of equipment.
- Deliver goods to customers.
- Record deliveries.
- Refuel and clean vehicle, check vehicles before trip start and sign off DI sheet. Report any problems or damages on vehicles before and after trip.
- Report road incidents.
- Follow traffic laws. No speeding or reckless driving allowed.
- Inspect truck, bakkie, forklift and record issues.
- Follow accident procedures.
- Keep activities log and log hours.
- Report mechanical problems, maintenance needs, service intervals to manager.
- Plan routes. Keep to agreed routes and report if he needs to take any other direction in the case of traffic problems.
- Get goods to the client on time. Avoid any damaging on the road, when loaded and off-loading. Rigging of equipment in a safe and orderly manner to avoid any injures of fellow helper and customer staff. Make sure that the correct rigging procedures are conducted.
- Maintain a positive attitude with customers.
- Must be dressed in company uniform and always use the safety PPE.
- Load equipment at dispatch in a safe manner to avoid any damages, scratches, or dents.
- Make use of the forklift, crane and pallet jack to transport and load/move/off load equipment.
- Assure that the documentation for delivery issued and signed by the customer.
- Make sure that the Security Sign the documentation (Invoice, delivery note,) and check the stock before you leave the premises.
- Assist with stock take at the end of each month on a Saturday form 7h00 till 17h00 as per instruction from the Dispatch Manager.
- Work on site to unpack and pack equipment and assist to get all equipment into position as instructed by the Company Representative or Customer. Do minor connections if needed and testing before leaving the premises.
- Remove the PVC coating from equipment delivered and clean the equipment to be presentable and make sure it is complete and functional.
- Assist to pack, organize the help with stock taking in the warehouse, and do general housekeeping.
- Do long distance trips to other provinces and install bakery / catering equipment.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluent in English and Afrikaans
- Grade 12
- Code 10, crane, forklift and PDP license
- Must be willing to work overtime as and when required
- Own transport to work essential
Salary
Hourly rate to be paid weekly
