Senior Accountant

Job Description

An exciting role is available for a Senior Accountant in Cape Town. You would need to be a CA(SA) who has experience in a project accounting environment. You will be responsible for handling financial reports, project accounting, and compliance for big engineering projects. Your skills in tracking costs, managing international transactions, and following tax rules will be crucial for this position. If you are confident self-starter who enjoys working in the project space, this role is perfect for you!

 

Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS/GAAP
• Ensure accurate general ledger management, reconciliations, and financial close processes
• Oversee tax compliance and liaise with auditors
• Monitor and report on work-in-progress, revenue recognition, and project profitability
• Track and manage project costs, accruals, and variances
• Collaborate with project managers to provide financial insights
• Assist in managing cash flow forecasting, working capital, and bank reconciliations
• Oversee multi-currency transactions and foreign exchange risk in international projects
• Manage timely processing of vendor invoices, payments, and collections
• Monitor client billing cycles, payment terms, and credit risk for healthy cash flow
• Manage the accuracy of financial data in ERP systems
• Assist in system upgrades, financial integrations, and digital transformation projects

Requirements:

• CA(SA)
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in an EPCM, Construction, or Engineering environment
• Strong understanding of project accounting, WIP reporting, and cost management
• Experience with multi-currency transactions, tax regulations, and international accounting standards
• Proven leadership and team management experience
• Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
• Experience with MS Office with advanced MS Excel skills
