My client, a leading Accounting firm in Table View, Cape Town, is seeking a motivated and detailed individual to join their team as a Tax administrator/Bookkeeper.

 

Responsibilities (Your duties will include, but are not limited to)

Tax duties:

  • Compilation and submission of tax returns, including tax calculations, assets and liabilities, and relevant tax schedules
  • Prepare and send notices of tax payments to partner
  • Follow up on outstanding refunds and assessments not yet finalised by SARS, and liaise with the relevant parties to expedite the process
  • Act as the primary point of contact with SARS and resolve any tax related issues or enquiries
  • Receive SARS e-mails and maintain a query register, ensuring all correspondence is appropriately recorded and addressed
  • Preparation and submission of supporting documents to SARS
  • Maintaining accurate records and adhering to regulatory requirements
  • Appointments with SARS
  • Registering entity’s representative with SARS
  • Registering and deregistering clients for Income tax, VAT, PAYE, UIF, SDL and Workmens Compensation
  • Completion and submission of SARS disputes
  • Keeping clients details up to date with SARS
  • Application for Tax Clearance Certificates
  • Adding clients to database

Bookkeeping duties:

  • Processing for monthly bookkeeping clients
  • Pastel processing up to Trial balance – cashbooks, bank reconciliations, debtors, creditors, petty cash and stock
  • Drafting of monthly management accounts and reports
  • VAT calculations and reconciliations
  • Payroll calculations and reconciliations
  • Preparation of statutory returns – VAT, PAYE, UIF, SDL and Workmen’s Compensation
  • Completion and submission of EMP501 reconciliations
  • Assistance with statutory documents – CIPC
  • Admin duties in office

Knowledge/Qualifications needed 

  • Relevant degree/diploma – attach certificates, diplomas etc to your application
  • Pastel experience essential
  • Relevant working experience
  • Computer literate
  • SARS e-filing and e@syfile experience is essential
  • Solid knowledge of SARS regulations, policies, procedures and turnaround times
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with clients and SARS
  • Experience in accounting desktop and cloud-based programmes
  • Must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines and work independently
  • Must be neat, organised, punctual, hardworking and motivated
  • Attention to detail is essential
  • Good understanding of debits and credits and accounting principles
  • Must have contactable references
  • Produce work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Professional and organised
