Financial Controller

Job Description

My client, a not-for profit organisation within the education sector, is seeking a Financial Controller who will oversee the day-to-day operations of the finance function across the group. The successful candidate will have experience and/or interest in basic or higher education fields. This is a remote role however a requirement is needed to be in office 3-4 times per month.

 

Responsibilities:

• Review the work of the outsourced accounting service providers, and deliver: Monthly management accounts; Audited and/or reviewed Annual Financial Statements; SARS submissions; Oversee payroll function; VAT and Income Tax (where applicable) submissions and reconciliation’s
• Manage and deliver cost centre and donor reporting
• Manage the debtor collection process for the school operating entities
• Define finance policies in line with business core values, and supportive of learners’ progress through the schools
• Complete day to day processing and banking transactions, where this is not covered by the outsourced accounting function
• Develop cash flow forecasts to show the cash requirements for the group in various scenarios
• Investigate and implement cost effective scenarios, including technology, to enable the business to maintain a low operating cost base and fee level for learners

Requirements:

• Experience in running a finance function
• BComm or similar
• Experience and/or interest in basic or higher education fields
• Experience on Xero advantageous but not required
• Own transport is essential
