Assistant Accountant

Job Description

Growing distributor and DIY retailer, looking to employ a hands on, detail orientated Assistant Accountant. Responsible for all of the business financial and operational systems and controls. 

 

Responsibilities:

• Maintain filing of supplier invoices 
• Review invoice approvals and accounts entries 
• Compile monthly supplier recons for payment process 
• Post discounts and settlement journals 
• Resolve supplier queries and process returns 
• Reconcile credit card control accounts 
• Reconcile seller account transactions 
• Reconcile bank accounts and debtors payments 
• Issue month end statements and follow up on overdue payments 
• Put together and verify electronic time sheets 
• Prepare monthly payroll, including loan deductions, advances, and related entries
• Reconcile Amazon transactions and returns 
• Liaise with Takealot, investigate and invoice missing stock 
• Oversee monthly stock takes 
• Resolve stock discrepancies 
• Implement financial and operational systems 
• Increase efficiency and minimize stock shrinkage 

Requirements:

• Proficient in Xero Accounting Software, Microsoft Excel, and Google Sheets
• High attention to detail and analytical skills
• Experience with e-commerce platforms (i.e.Amazon, Takealot) 
• Strong understanding of internal controls and accounting principles
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
