Job Description
Our client, a successful technology business looking to employ a Group Accountant, based in Melrose Arch. This role requires a analytical and critical thinker, one that is able to handle complex financial tasks, that understands and can implement accounting principles and practices. Responsibilities:
- Produce accurate financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
- Ensure compliance with IFRS and tax regulations
- Manage audits (internal/external) and liaise with auditors
- Maintain accuracy of general ledger, ensure accurate recording of transactions
- Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes
- Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies
- Review invoices, collections, and vendor payments
- Run age reports and optimize working capital
- Verify timeous and accurate payment processing
- Maintain financial models for budgets and forecasting
- Produce variance analysis and insights on financial performance
- Liaise with management to align financial planning with business strategy
- Manage cash flow to ensure liquidity
- Maintain banking relationships and financing options
- Implement cash flow forecasting tools
- Prepare and file corporate tax returns, VAT/GST, payroll taxes, and other statutory filings
- Maintain compliance with local and international tax laws
- Produce data-focused financial insight for decision-making
- Prepare consolidated financial statements for the group, ensure accuracy across multiple entities
- Reconcile intercompany transactions and eliminations
- Ensure compliance with consolidation accounting standards (IFRS 10, IFRS 12, etc.)
Requirements:
- Qualification: BComm in accounting or a equivalent 3-year degree
- Completed SAICA or SAIPA articles from mid-tier accounting firm, SAIPA/CIMA accreditation advantageous
- Must have no less than 5 years work experience, experience liaising with auditors and tax authorities
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel
- Advanced Knowledge with Pastel
- Able to work with all levels of staff (junior and senior management)
- Must be a analytical and critical thinker
