New vacancy is available for our client, a dynamic and growing accounting firm based in Port Elizabeth, for an Accountant.
Our client, specializing in outsourced accounting and financial services for clients in South Africa, and the United States is seeking an Accountant in Port Elizabeth.

Willingness to work during US hours, including evenings during peak U.S. tax season (November to March). Work hours will be adjusted to allow for 3–4 hours of overlap with U.S. business hours, based on a rotating shift schedule.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing full-cycle accounting and bookkeeping services to US-based clients, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and client-specific requirements. This role requires strong analytical skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Accountant (US Clients)

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to handle the day-to-day accounting operations for our U.S.-based clients. This role requires strong knowledge of U.S. accounting standards, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple clients in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily bookkeeping and accounting tasks, including:
    • Bank and credit card reconciliations
    • Accounts payable and receivable
    • General ledger maintenance
    • Month-end and year-end closings
    • Inventory and fixed asset management
    • Equity and intercompany account reconciliations
  • Prepare accurate financial statements and management reports
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and IRS regulations
  • Communicate directly with U.S. clients via email and video conferencing
  • Collaborate with internal teams to improve processes and client service
  • Utilize accounting platforms such as QuickBooks (Online/Desktop), Xero, and other cloud-based tools

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 2–3 years of accounting experience, preferably with U.S. clients
  • Proficient in QuickBooks, Xero, and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong English communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in an outsourced accounting or BPO environment
  • Familiarity with U.S. tax forms and filings (e.g., 1099s, W-9s)
  • Professional certification (SAIPA, SAICA, CPA or equivalent) is a plus
