Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and driven Junior Sales Representative to support the growth of their commercial and retail fuel sales operations. This role offers an exciting opportunity to build a career in B2B fuel sales through client acquisition, account servicing, and operational support. The successful candidate will work closely with senior sales staff, manage new and existing client relationships, and gain exposure to both retail and commercial sales environments.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Sales

  • Research and identify potential clients across sectors including transportation, construction, and manufacturing.
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of business opportunities.
  • Support senior sales representatives in preparing proposals, quotes, and managing accounts.
  • Assist in market expansion efforts within the Cape Town region.
  • Ensure alignment of operations with company policies and client requirements.
  • Meet individual sales volume and profit targets.
  • Conduct cold calls, customer meetings, and sales presentations.
  • Meet weekly targets for customer calls, prospect meetings, and site acquisitions.
  • Travel extensively within the Cape Town area for client engagement.
  • Maintain and update the asset register as required.

Retail Sales Support

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the Cape Town retail network.
  • Assist with day-to-day retail site issues, ensuring retailers meet their contractual obligations.
  • Provide administrative support to the Area Sales Manager (Cape Town).
  • Help monitor and improve retail site performance through data analysis and volume tracking.
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) standards.
  • Assist with the submission and verification of fuel stock reconciliations and compliance documentation.
  • Validate pricing and costings as per existing agreements.
  • Participate in on-site visits to learn about operational standards, HSEQ compliance, and training protocols.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Matric (Grade 12)

Experience Required

  • 1–3 years of sales experience (experience in the fuel industry is advantageous)
  • Valid driver’s license

Skills & Competencies

  • Solid sales background with a proven track record
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach
  • Strategic thinking and project management abilities
  • Strong relationship-building and customer service orientation
  • Comfortable working under pressure to meet targets
  • Willingness to travel regularly within the region
