Job Description:

 

Our client is in need of a strategic and hands-on Chief Technical Officer (CTO) to lead the technology and digital strategy for their mining operations and projects in Africa. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT systems, cybersecurity, and SOX compliance, along with a background in the mining sector.

 

Responsibilities:

• Leading the company’s technology vision and align it with business goals.
• Overseeing IT infrastructure, enterprise systems, and operational technology.
• Developing and managing cybersecurity programs to protect company systems and data.
• Ensuring all IT-related processes meet Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance requirements.
• Supporting automation, digital innovation, and data analytics across mining operations.
• Building and leading a skilled technical team across multiple sites.
• Working with executive leadership on risk management, technology investment, and strategic planning.

 

 

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

• Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field.
• Master’s degree advantageous.
• 10+ years’ experience in leadership roles within IT in the mining sector.
• Strong knowledge of SOX IT controls, audits, compliance frameworks, and cybersecurity standards.
• CISSP, CISM, or similar cybersecurity certification.
• Familiar with ERP systems, industrial control systems (ICS), and cloud platforms.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Willing to travel to remote mining sites in Africa as needed.
• This position is only open to South African residents currently based in / around Gauteng.
