Senior Accountant

Job Description

Our client is part of an international financial services group with a strong presence in capital markets, private wealth, and corporate advisory. The South African office is based in the Southern Suburbs and offers a dynamic, youthful, and professional environment.  They are seeking a Senior Accountant to take ownership of the finance function in a stand-alone capacity. This is a full-time, office-based role reporting directly to the Finance Manager. 

 

What you’ll be doing
You will manage the full finance function, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely financial records and reporting across the business.

Key responsibilities include:

• Full accounting in Xero from source document to trial balance
• Preparing and maintaining financial records (AP, AR, payroll, GL management)
• Monthly financial reporting and reconciliation
• Bank processing, reconcilations and payroll
• Compliance filings and reporting
• Daily equity trading reports (AI-assisted)
• Supporting small teams with finance queries and processes
• Participating in continuous improvement of processes and systems
• Ad hoc tasks to support management

What we’re looking for

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
• Minimum 3–5 years’ accounting experience (articles not required)
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and sound accounting principles
• Proficiency in accounting systems (Xero advantageous) and MS Office
• Independent, self-sufficient, and able to manage deadlines
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• A social and collaborative personality to fit into the team culture
