Job Description

A independent property and asset management team, are looking to employ a Financial Accountant to join their small, high-performance team with strong values and a focus on excellence. Fantastic opportunity, report to the CFO.

What you will be doing:

  • Produce financial models to support property acquisitions
  • Support funding negotiations with bankers
  • Prepare detailed monthly cash flow forecasts for investors and banks
  • Supply valuation data and review external property valuations
  • Produce annual financial statements compliant with IFRS and SA regulations
  • Manage tax submissions and maintain compliance with all statutory requirements
  • Oversee external audit processes
  • Prepare monthly management reports, financial analysis and variance reporting
  • Collaborate with property and asset managers on annual budgets
  • Manage municipal rates accounts, reviews, objections and appeals
  • Review monthly investor statements and prepare commentary
  • Prepare quarterly, semi-annual and annual investor reports
  • Manage investor drawdowns and dividend schedules
  • Oversee implementation of finance policies and FSCA compliance
  • Manage insurance renewals and BEE compliance
  • Support due diligence on acquisitions and disposals
  • Review payroll and EMP501 reconciliations
  • Assess and enhance internal controls and IT environment

What we are looking for:

  • Minimum of a completed university degree, with a stellar academic track record
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role, or completed articles plus 3 years’ experience at an accounting firm
  • Professional affiliation advantageous (SAICA, SAIPA, CIMA, SAIBA, SAIT, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of South African finance regulations and IFRS
  • Experience in the property sector is preferred
  • Exposure to FSCA compliance and reporting
  • Skilled in budgeting, reporting, procurement processes and financial modelling
  • Advanced Excel skills; proficiency in Word and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work confidently at both detail and strategic levels
  • Assertive, efficient and easy to work with
