Our global engineering client in Sandton Johannesburg is looking for a Legal and Risk Officer with 5 years’ experience. You will be responsible for in managing an organization’s legal affairs and mitigating potential risks. The position involves a combination of legal advisory, compliance, and risk management responsibilities.

Min Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) qualification.
  • Admission as an attorney or advocate in South Africa is essential.
  • Experience in legal practice, risk management, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of South African laws and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Legal Advisory – Provide legal advice and support to the organization on a wide range of issues, including contracts, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure the organization’s interests are protected.
  • Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations affecting the organization and ensure compliance.
  • Risk Management – Identify, assess, and prioritize risks to the organization, including operational, financial, and reputational risks.
  • Compliance – Ensure the organization complies with all applicable laws, regulations,
  • Policy Development – Assist in the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Dispute Resolution – Manage and resolve legal disputes and litigation involving the organization.
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, auditors, and legal counsel, to address legal and risk-related matters.
  • Provide guidance and support to management and staff on legal and risk issues.
