Senior Metallurgist (Mineral Processing / Comminution / Flotation / Smelting / Metallurgy)

Job Description:

Our client, a well-established company within the mining industry, is looking for a Senior Metallurgist to join their team. The successful candidate will strengthen technical and managerial expertise on site as a Senior “Silver” Metallurgist, ensuring metallurgical performance, operational stability, and continuous improvement of the processing units. In addition, they will support operations teams in a demanding social environment, effectively navigating labor relations, unions, and site culture. This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in optimizing processing operations and driving sustainable performance improvements.

Responsibilities:  

• Drive consistent metallurgical performance improvements, including silver recovery, reagent efficiency, plant uptime, and anode quality.
• Identify process deviations and implement effective corrective and preventive measures.
• Plan, design, and oversee process and reagent test campaigns, ensuring rigorous methodology and on-site validation.
• Establish and implement operational standards, procedures, control routines, and performance dashboards.
• Mentor and coach supervisors and operators through hands-on training and knowledge transfer.
• Support process improvement and plant revamp projects, from specification development to commissioning and optimization.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

• Degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, Process Engineering, or Mineral Processing (MSc preferred) or equivalent qualification.
• Senior-level professional with extensive plant experience, ideally in silver processing circuits, cyanidation, Merrill-Crowe, or smelting operations.
• Demonstrated success in improving recovery, reducing reagent consumption, resolving operational issues, and managing plant ramp-ups.
• French is required, proficiency in English advantageous.
