Our client who focusses on providing storage and logistics services to a wide range of clients within the frozen food market is looking for the expertise of a HR Generalist to join their team.

Purpose of your Role

  • Assist in developing and executing personnel procedures and policies, and provide guidance and interpretation for business operations
  • Participate in development of HR objectives and systems, including metrics, queries, and ongoing reports for company requirements
  • Assist in administering benefits, compensation, and employee performance programs
  • Suggest new procedures and policies for improving employee experience as well as the efficiency of HR department and company
  • Ensure compliance with local and national regulations and applicable employment laws, and update policies and procedures when necessary

Responsibilities

  • Prepare paperwork and schedules for smooth new-hire onboarding process, coordinating with cross-functional departments to deliver an exceptional first-day experience
  • Handle all administrative tasks for onboarding, new-hire orientations, and exit interviews, including data entry in human resources information systems (HRIS) and audits for accuracy and compliance
  • Provide a dedicated and effective HR advisory service to employees that covers absence and health issues, conduct and capability, grievances, organizational change, and all other employee-relations matters
  • Be the primary backup for payroll processing, including updates to employee files, bonus/incentive pay, vacation/sick pay, expense reimbursements, hourly-employee validations, and benefits changes. Staff changes such as internal transfers, resignations etc.
  • Assist in the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of employee policies and SOP’s, employee information, and organizational chart.

Cross-Department Collaboration

The HR Generalist will work closely with multiple departments to ensure seamless operations, financial control, and compliance across the organization:

Finance & Procurement:

  • Ensure procurement processes and policies are adhered to and ensure budget allocation is efficiently utilised.

Compliance:

  • Support compliance audits, ensure operational processes align with regulatory requirements, and implement corrective actions where necessary by effectively working with Asset Pool and Monday.com systems.

Facilities:

  • Coordinate with the Facilities team to maintain warehouse infrastructure, monitor maintenance schedules, and ensure optimal storage conditions in a proactive manner. The OM must ensure that they report any breakdowns, issues related to that facility’s machinery, building, colling systems or anything that can lead to delays in day-to-day operations to the Facilities Management Department using the prescribed methods.

Human Capital:

Collaborate with HR to ensure proper workforce planning, recruitment, and employee performance management.

Learning & Development:

  • Work with the Learning & Development team to ensure warehouse staff receive relevant training in compliance, safety, and operational best practices

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in human resources, business, or related field
  • Proven success working in an HR department
  • Resourceful mindset and strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of SharePoint, Monday.com and ERS Biometrics beneficial
  • Knowledge of national laws and regulations related to employment

Template & Document Management

Template Management

  • Confirm compliance related onboarding documents and data are up to date
  • Confirm that all policies, agreements, KPI & performance templates, and Sop’s are up to date and current in accordance with Compliance Laws and international best practices.
  • Ensure company’s file labelling, saving and management is in accordance with the SORTD Method.

Training & Development

  • The HR Generalist will lead, mentor, and develop employees to enhance productivity and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Work with L&D to recruit, train, and develop talent within the warehouse team.

Continuous Improvement & Reporting

  • The HR Generalist will analyse data, implement process enhancements, and provide regular performance reports.
