Group Accountant

Job Description

We’re looking for a detail-driven Senior Accountant who’s ready to own core finance functions and support strategic decision-making in a well-established retail business. This role gives you full visibility into operational finance, from month-end to audits, while supporting the Financial Manager in driving financial accuracy and compliance across the business. It’s ideal for someone who thrives in a structured environment but wants room to influence and evolve processes.

 

What you’ll be doing

• Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts
• Own balance sheet reconciliations and maintain the general ledger
• Manage fixed asset registers and monthly depreciation entries
• Handle VAT reporting and ensure on-time submissions
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost allocations
• Provide audit support and ensure audit file accuracy
• Liaise with operations and resolve finance-related queries

 

What we’re looking for

• BCom Accounting degree (essential)
• Completed SAICA/SAIPA articles (preferred)
• 6+ years experience in accounting/finance
• Experience in FMCG, Retail, Tech or a similar 
• Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems
• Strong grasp of journals, reconciliations, statutory reporting and month-end close at a group level 
• A problem-solver with a keen eye for detail and deadlines
