Based: Centurion

Salary: R 30 000 to R 50 000 pm

 

Job Purpose:

The Millwright is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of industrial machinery and mechanical equipment to ensure optimal production efficiency and minimal downtime. This role requires strong mechanical and electrical skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing/industrial environment.

 

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Red Seal Millwright Trade Certificate (essential).
  • At least 3–5 years’ experience as a Millwright in an industrial/manufacturing/production environment.
  • Experience in FMCG or Pharmaceutical Industry will be an advantage
  • Strong mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical knowledge.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
  • Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office, CMMS systems advantageous).
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Physically fit and able to work in demanding environments (shift work/overtime if required).
  • Advantageous: PLC troubleshooting experience, welding, boiler making, or fabrication skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong technical aptitude.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Self-motivated with strong initiative.
  • Safety-conscious mindset.

 

Key Responsibilities:( not limit to)

  • Install, assemble, and align machinery and equipment according to blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, inspections, and servicing of equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and prolong equipment lifespan.
  • Fabricate and modify parts when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
  • Collaborate with production teams to minimize disruption and ensure machinery efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment (if applicable).
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying areas of mechanical and process improvement.
