Our client is seaking a Rolling Operator who will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining rolling machines used to shape, form, or process metal, plastic, or composite materials. This role ensures that products meet quality, safety, and production standards while supporting efficient workflow on the manufacturing line.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation:
- Set up and operate rolling mills or roller machines according to production schedules.
- Adjust machine settings such as roll gaps, speed, and pressure to meet product specifications.
- Load raw materials into the rolling machine and monitor operations throughout the cycle.
Quality Assurance:
- Inspect rolled materials for defects such as thickness irregularities, surface imperfections, or dimensional deviations.
- Use measuring tools (e.g., callipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify specifications.
- Record production data and report deviations or quality issues immediately.
Maintenance & Safety:
- Perform routine machine checks, cleaning, and minor maintenance.
- Identify and report mechanical issues or wear-and-tear on equipment.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols, including PPE use, lockout/tagout procedures, and safe material handling.
Process Improvement & Collaboration:
- Collaborate with maintenance teams, supervisors, and quality controllers.
- Suggest improvements to enhance productivity, reduce waste, or optimize workflows.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specification sheets, and SOPs.
- Knowledge of production processes and quality control standards.
- Good numeracy skills and ability to perform precision measurements.
- Problem‑solving mindset and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
Experience & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical/vocational training an advantage).
- 1–3 years of experience operating rolling machines or similar industrial machinery (preferred).
- Familiarity with Health & Safety regulations in manufacturing.
- Forklift certification (optional but beneficial).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move materials (typically up to 25–30 kg depending on site requirements).
- Good hand‑eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Comfortable working in environments with heat, noise, or moving machinery.
Work Environment:
- Shift work may be required (day, night, rotational).
- Exposure to industrial manufacturing conditions (noise, heat, machinery).
Location: Germiston
Salary Range: Market related
Start Date: Immediate
Working Hours: (Dayshift) 06:30- 14:30 (Nightshift) Monday- Friday 14:30- 22:30 Monday- Friday
