This senior role is suited to a seasoned professional with a proven track record of opening new markets, securing long-term B2B contracts, and managing complex technical sales cycles. The successful candidate will leverage advanced in-house capabilities — including laser cutting, forming, welding, assembly, testing, and finishing — to unlock sustainable revenue streams across automotive and diversified industrial sectors.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant Tertiary Qualification
  • 8–12+ years’ experience in business development, technical sales, or key account management within automotive, engineering, mining, renewable energy, or metal fabrication industries.
  • Demonstrated success in:
    • Securing new B2B customers
    • Developing new markets or product categories
    • Managing long-cycle technical sales processes
    • Negotiating large-volume supply agreements
  • Strong understanding of fabrication and assembly processes (laser cutting, forming, welding, finishing).
  • Experience with engineered steel assemblies or regulated performance systems is advantageous.
  • Engineering, technical, or business qualification preferred.
  • Strong commercial acumen and high-level negotiation skills.

Duties

Core Portfolio Growth

  • Develop and execute a clear commercial strategy to expand existing engineered product lines across OEM, OES, and aftermarket channels.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with manufacturers, distributors, fleet operators, and industrial customers.
  • Identify new customer segments and growth opportunities through structured market analysis.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to support new product introductions and customised solutions.

Regulated & Performance-Critical Systems Development

  • Drive customer acquisition within sectors requiring durable, performance-driven engineered assemblies.
  • Identify opportunities in automotive, industrial engine, agricultural, off-highway, and related markets.
  • Partner with technical teams to deliver compliant, fit-for-purpose solutions aligned with evolving regulatory and performance requirements.
  • Monitor global and regional industry trends that influence demand for engineered systems.

Diversification & Market Expansion

  • Identify and penetrate new industries where high-volume fabrication and assembly capabilities can be deployed, including:
  • Construction and mining equipment
  • Industrial machinery
  • Renewable energy components
  • Agricultural equipment
  • Commercial fabrication and sub-assemblies
  • Build strong commercial business cases for entry into new sectors.
  • Lead the full customer engagement lifecycle from technical introduction through to negotiation and onboarding.
  • Secure long-term, volume-based manufacturing agreements.

Strategic Market Development

  • Analyse industry data, market forecasts, and technology trends to identify sustainable growth opportunities.
  • Position the organisation as a preferred supplier through demonstrated quality, engineering expertise, and production capacity.
  • Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions, and key customer engagements.

Commercial Management

  • Prepare quotations, tenders, proposals, and multi-year supply agreements.
  • Negotiate pricing, contractual terms, volumes, and service levels.
  • Maintain a dynamic sales pipeline and deliver accurate forecasting.
  • Ensure margin discipline and commercial sustainability across projects.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with manufacturing, engineering, finance, quality, and supply chain teams to align customer requirements with operational capability.
  • Support feasibility studies, costing exercises, and structured project handovers.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and strategic planning initiatives.
