We are seeking a HSE and Security Officer to join our team in the Automotive Industry.

Automotive Environmental Health & Safety HSE Security Officer

Main Duties / Responsibilities

Security

  • Manage and monitor the security service provider.
  • Hold and record monthly security meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and site procedures.
  • Oversee access control and accurate record keeping of people and assets.
  • Ensure daily searches are conducted as per policy.
  • Inspect CCTV, gates, locks, fences and other security systems regularly.
  • Maintain and audit key control registers.
  • Prepare monthly security reports (incidents, risks, costs).
  • Report security risks or deviations to senior management.
  • Review and update the Site Procedure Manual when required.

Safety, Health & Environment (HSE)

  • Conduct workplace inspections and investigate incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with safety laws and company policies.
  • Implement improvements to safety and environmental standards.
  • Develop and maintain HSE systems and compliance programs (OHS, COIDA, Environmental).
  • Identify training needs and coordinate safety training.
  • Coordinate monthly safety meetings (agenda, minutes, documentation).
  • Ensure legal safety appointments are current.
  • Communicate legislative updates to management.
  • Conduct audits and risk assessments.
  • Identify unsafe acts/conditions and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate evacuation drills (at least twice a year).
  • Maintain emergency and contingency plans.
  • Provide ongoing HSE reporting to management.

Facilities Management

  • Oversee maintenance and safety of buildings, infrastructure and equipment.
  • Implement and audit key control systems.
  • Manage site opening and closing procedures.
  • Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure plant and equipment servicing meets legal and manufacturer standards.
  • Maintain asset and equipment registers.
  • Ensure statutory inspections and certifications are completed.
  • Oversee contractors and service providers.
  • Assist with facilities budgeting and cost control.
  • Identify and resolve infrastructure risks.
  • Maintain maintenance and inspection records.
  • Escalate urgent breakdowns or risks immediately.

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric.
  • SAMTRAC / NEBOSH / Diploma in Safety Management.
  • 5 years’ experience as a Safety Officer (manufacturing, construction or warehousing).
  • 5 years’ experience in security supervision.
  • 3 years’ experience in facilities management.
  • Own reliable transport and cellphone.
  • Available after hours for safety/security issues.
