Job Description:

Our client, an international logistics and shipping group that operates in the maritime sector, supporting industries like mining and oil & gas across Africa, is seeking to employ a Liner Agency Manager to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all operational and commercial aspects of the agency, ensuring alignment with principal requirements, maintaining high service standards, and strengthening client relationships. This role requires strong leadership, commercial acumen, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, international shipping environment.

Responsibilities:

    • Act as the primary point of contact for the principal liner agency.
    • Manage and oversee all liner agency operations, including bookings, documentation, and customer service.
    • Drive commercial performance through sales support, market analysis, and business development initiatives.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, freight forwarders, and partners.
    • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and identify new business opportunities.
    • Ensure compliance with principal standards, KPIs, and reporting requirements.
    • Lead, mentor, and manage the agency team to achieve performance objectives.
    • Drive process improvements, including system enhancements, automation of invoices, reporting, and workflows.
    • Oversee financial coordination, including invoicing, disbursement accounts, payment tracking, and month-end reporting.
    • Monitor operational performance, including port call activities and service delivery.
    • Develop and implement standard operating procedures to improve efficiency and consistency.
    • Coordinate with port operations, logistics providers, and internal stakeholders.
    • Prepare performance reports and business updates for senior management.
    • Represent the company in meetings, partner engagements, and industry events.

 

Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field.
    • Minimum 4 years’ experience in shipping, liner agency, or freight forwarding.
    • Strong understanding of container shipping operations and documentation.
    • Proven experience in sales, business development, or commercial roles.
    • Experience working with global carriers is advantageous.
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
    • Commercial mindset with strong analytical ability.
    • High attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
    • Fluent in both French and English.
