PURPOSE OF THE JOB
You will be responsible for training, re-training, skilling and upskilled drivers. To drive trucks and deliver and/or collect freight to and from clients and/or suppliers. Furthermore, you will assist with the recruitment of new drivers as well as assist with developing training programs. Must have MAN TGS 440 / TGS 480 and TGS 540 truck experience and Taught Liner experience.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Drive trucks.
- Take full responsibility of truck and its freight on the road
- Inspect truck and equipment and report shortages
- Report mechanical and other faults to Transport Controller
- Cover Loads using Tarpaulins and Cargo Nets
- Ensure that freight is properly covered and tightened
- Repair small defects whilst on road
- Keep complete vehicle clean and neat
- Check vehicles for road worthiness
- Assist with loading and offloading of truck
- Available at truck during loading
- Adhere to all traffic laws
- Ensure vehicle and cargo is safe at all times
- Ensure timeous departure from the depots, according to delivery schedule and/or as per instruction from operations department
- Control speed and fuel consumption
- PDP, passports and licenses to be renewed at least 6 weeks before expiry
- Train and evaluate all Code 14 drivers
- Maintain records of training done.
- Conduct driving performance evaluations.
- Accident remedial Training
- Classroom Training.
- Providing input for the development of training material.
- Feedback to management on training/trainee performance.
- Trucks are always driven according to company and manufacturer specifications
- Fuel consumption is always within company specifications
- No stock losses are incurred
- Faults are immediately reported
- Trucks are always clean and neat
- Trucks are always in roadworthy condition
- No traffic fines are received
Administration
- Ensure that correct invoices and delivery notes are at hand before departure
- Complete Delivery note for every load being delivered. (POD Book)
- Get information about shortest routes
- Get signatures of clients on delivery documents
- Get orders & delivery instructions from
- Return the correct Border Documentation to the Office after delivery of load
- Hand copies of documents to clients
- Copies of POD’s to be signed and stamped by customer
- Exercise control over pallets
- Overall administration of all training and training preparations.
- No faults occur with delivery documents, i.e.
- All signatures are acquired
- No documents are lost
- All clients receive copies of documents
- Freight is always delivered to the correct address
- No pallet losses are incurred
- All shortages and problems communicated immediately without delay
- All administration tasks always executed accurately and timeously.
- Inform Logistics Controller of shortages and any other problems encountered
- Complete Fuel Transaction Record after replenishment of fuel, for every Transaction
- Obtain Order Number for Fuel Replenishment before the transaction is done
Client service
- Build and maintain good relationships with clients
- Report and hand in documents to shop management
- Off-load according to client specifications
- Check stock quantities of loaded and sign off documents
- Report short deliveries and deliveries of damaged stock, to fleet controller, while still being at customer where goods are off-loaded
- Ensure personal appearance and hygiene are always according to company expectations
- Good client relations are maintained continuously
- All documents dealt with efficiently
- Off-loading procedures are always executed according to client requirements
- Personal appearance and hygiene always immaculate
Food safety
- Promote food safety in the company by applying and adhering to the food safety policies and procedures
- Ensure no contamination takes place with product on trailers
- Food safety procedures are executed accurately on a daily basis
- No contamination of products takes place whilst on truck
Health and safety
- Apply and adhere to the prescribed safety rules.
- Health and safety rules are always adhered to and no accidents occur
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Grade 12 (required)
- Code 14 License with PrDP
- Certification as Driver Trainer.
Experience
- 5 Years relevant work experience in training.
- 5 years Code 14 experience
