Are you an experienced legal professional with strategic thinking and commercial acumen? Our client is seeking a skilled Advisory Consultant to provide strategic legal counsel, support governance initiatives, and deliver practical business-focused legal solutions across the organisation.

 

Salary: Competitive package, depending on experience

 

Minimum Requirements

•            Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree or equivalent

•            Admitted as an Attorney or Advocate in South Africa

•            Minimum 5–7 years' post-admission legal experience

•            Strong background in corporate and commercial law

•            In-house counsel or legal advisory experience preferred

•            Strong knowledge of South African corporate and commercial law

•            Advanced written and verbal communication skills

•            Excellent analytical and research abilities

•            Knowledge of POPIA, FAIS, B-BBEE, and King IV Code (advantageous)

•            Master's degree (LLM) or postgraduate qualification (advantageous)

•            Experience in M&A or corporate restructuring (advantageous)

 
Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic legal advice to management and the Board on corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on complex legal issues
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements and contracts
  • Advise on risk mitigation strategies and legal compliance matters
  • Support M&A transactions, restructuring, and corporate transactions
  • Develop and implement legal and governance policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with applicable legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor legislative changes and advise on business implications
  • Support the Company Secretary with governance and statutory obligations
  • Prepare legal opinions and memoranda on specific matters
  • Liaise with external legal advisors and service providers
  • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders on legal matters
  • Provide legal guidance and training to staff as required
  • Maintain accurate legal documentation and matter files
