Job Description

This is an exciting role for a newly qualified CA(SA) based in Stellenbosch in the Financial Services industry!  This is a lifetime opportunity to learn in this dynamic environment with little red tape that offers you lots of exposure to executives and the freedom to contribute to the team on various projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Support financial management of the business by producing monthly management accounts, annual budgets and revenue and expenses forecasts and ad hoc reporting of financial trends
  • Ensure integrity of financial results through performance of variance analysis and error finding on income statements and balance sheets movements on entity level
  • Financial analysis of business unit earnings and expenses (burn rate)
  • Consolidate financial information as requested for corporate reporting together with providing an understanding for high-level movements
  • This role is responsible for enabling data-driven decision-making through real-time performance analysis and reporting
  • Statutory reporting and requested management reporting
  • Contributing to Profit and Loss identification and strategies
  • Management of accounting tools - including the regular required input and reviewing the dashboard view
  • Debtor reporting: net profitability of clients, working capital management and other capital allocation KPI’s
  • Assistance with Claims reporting
  • Daily Accounts Payable and Bank payments management

Requirements:

  • Newly or nearly qualified CA(SA)
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles
  • Working knowledge of short and long-term budgeting and profitability analysis
  • Experience with accounting software (both input and output). Experience working with Sage Evolution and Sage Intacct is highly advantageous
  • Advanced computer skills (Excel) and some computer programming desired
  • Financial services experience is advantageous (but not a requirement)
  • Self-starter and operationally hands on
  • Strong communication skills, including ability to articulate complex business issues in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to interact maturely and professionally with senior managers
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate large amounts of data into actionable information
  • Accounting skills with strong financial acumen
  • Ability to identify problems and implement an action plan
  • Disciplined, pro-active and flexible
