My client in the energy sector has an incredible opportunity for a self-motivated and detail-oriented senior Accountant to join the finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing budgets, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. They will work with the team to deliver value to improve decision-making and project execution processes.
Responsibilities:
- Monthly accounting and financial reporting in SAP for subsidiaries
- Transferring monthly reports from SAP to the group consolidation system
- Accountable for the payment processing and associated controls
- Ensuring compliance with financial policies
- Development, tracking, and compliance with the annual budget
- Monitoring expenditures against the budget, reporting discrepancies, and proposing enhancements or cost reductions
- Generating monthly cash flow projections and consistently reviewing cash flow across all group entities
- Handling tax submissions and regulatory compliance (including VAT, employee taxes, dividend taxes, and income tax)
- Calculation of taxable income preparation, including deferred tax reconciliation
- Responsible for the monthly reconciliation of creditors and the entry of all supplier invoices into SAP
- Submission of annual returns to the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC)
- Overseeing the external financial audit
- Preparation of Annual Financial Statements in accordance with IFRS
- Maintaining a robust working relationship with stakeholders
- A degree in BComm Accounting minimum, with Honours preferred
- SAIPA / CIMA / ACCA qualified preferred
- 2-3 years of financial accounting experience required
- Proven knowledge of accounting principles and regulations including IFRS
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, SAP beneficial
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong numerical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
