CNC Machine Shop Manager

Machine Shop Manager: Johannesburg West.  Permanent position.

Estimate salary around R 45 000 pm, subject to experience, expertise, knowledge, software proficiency, management skills etc.

Someone with experience on MasterCam.

 Manufacturing of Materials Handling Equipment, Wheelsets, Bogies, Running Gears and Scraper chains etc.

Must have around 10 years’ experience on CNC Milling and Turning Machines and be fully proficient in the following:Staff management

Machine programming

Offline/software machine programming, experience with CAMWorks by SolidWorks would be advantageous.

Tool and consumable ordering and control.

Quality inspections

Ensure that you are familiar with the general requirements of ISO and you comply and enforce the requirements related to your specific functions.

Ensure the efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability of all operations under your control

Managing and controlling the duties, functions, requests and discipline of personnel who report to you directly.

Update, plan, control and enforce schedules on a daily basis and reschedule when and where necessary.

Coordinate and monitor the daily activities of your direct staff and ensure they are always productive, immediately attend to any issues/problems which influence valuable production time.

If applicable, ensure the night/second shift is fully prepared for with regards to: products, material, programs, tools, jigs, consumables, know how, time studies etc, ensure a seamless handover between all shifts.

If required attend and/or arrange daily production meetings.

Overseeing machine shop dealing with day-to-day requirements.

Programming all required components on software and providing operators with programs for daily production.

Continuously improve machine programs and processes where possible.

Staff discipline.

Raising any necessary NCR`s timeously and quarantine any parts that may be affected by a defect immediately until checked.

Training to be done with any new duties given to staff.

Night shift to be supplied with all required programs, tooling and materials. The machine shop manager must be available to take calls during night shift.
